This is an update from an earlier discussion on the old News Views channel.
The Montana man, Curt Brockway, who assaulted a 13-year-old boy for not removing his hat during the anthem has pleaded not guilty. Witnesses say he lifted the boy up by his neck and body slammed him into the ground. The boy was airlifted and hospitalized with a skull fracture. Although Brockway was on probation for an assault with a deadly weapon in 2010, he was [inexplicably] released without bond. After his arraignment, he remains free on no bond and his next court date is Oct 23.
Lance Jasper, his lawyer, argues that Brockway was doing what he believed Trump wanted him to do. “His commander in chief is telling people that if they kneel, they should be fired, or if they burn a flag, they should be punished. He certainly didn’t understand it was a crime.” Jasper is seeking a mental evaluation and contends that an automobile accident left Brockway brain damaged while he stationed at an Army base in Washington.
