The day before the mass shooting in El Paso, TX that claimed the lives of 22 people and injured numerous others, Gov. Abbot sent out a fundraising memo asking supporters to help him “defend Texas.”

The letter claims ‘illegal immigrants’ never “reach swanky limousine-liberal neighborhoods in New York and California!”
Abbott cites several statistics on illegal border crossings and tells his supporters that in order to defend Texas, “we’ll need to take matters into our own hands.”
In his manifesto and confession to law enforcement, the El Paso shooter, Patrick Crusius, admitted to targeting “Mexicans.”
