Although he won’t officially join Team Trump and have a cushy office in the West Wing, Trey ‘Benghazi’ Gowdy will assist “the White House team combating the U.S. House’s impeachment inquiry into the president.”
Folks know Trey as the ‘polished,’ southern lawyer who held over two years worth of hearings into “investigating the attacks on an American diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, while Hillary Clinton was secretary of State.”
He and his committee never found “any criminal behavior or misconduct by Obama administration officials,” but they sure left their mark on SoS Clinton and bruised her going into the 2016 election.
So now, Benghazi Trey has decided to lend his bigly lawyering skills to the White House staff. Back in the day when he held all those Benghazi hearings, Gowdy said in a Voice of America article, it was wrong to withhold information from Congress.
“The notion that you can withhold information and documents from Congress no matter whether you are the party in power or not in power is wrong. Respect for the rule of law must mean something, irrespective of the vicissitudes of political cycles.”
