Sacramento McDonald’s Blasts Bagpipes to Keep Away Homeless

Residents in Midtown Sacramento are getting their fill of bagpipes being blasted from the speakers of a neighborhood McDonald’s restaurant.

Intended to drive away homeless people, the music has been blaring through the walls of the neighbors, and complaints are falling on deaf ears. Patrons are not getting happy with their meals, either.

Management when questioned has said that all they could do was talk to corporate about the problem.

Weaponized sound has been employed at other businesses to deter homeless loitering, and have included high pitch noise and classical music.

CBS Sacramento has the story.
