A 26-foot high wooden statue of Donald Trump in Melania’s homeland of Slovenia has been torched and burned to the ground. Slovenian police are looking for the culprit.
The wooden statue erected last year showed Trump in his blue suit, red tie, and fist raised like the Statue of Liberty. A mechanism inside the statue would open its mouth and reveal shark-like teeth.
“Like all populists, the statue has two faces,” its creator, Tomaz Schlegl, said when he unveiled the statue last August. “One is humane and nice, the other is that of a vampire.”
A similar sculpture of Melania Trump carved from the limb of a tree was unveiled last June to mixed reactions in her hometown of Sevnica, Slovenia.
Slovenians had hoped Melania would promote her home country since becoming First Lady, but she has rarely mentioned Slovenia publicly…..as if she really doesn’t care.
