CDC: First confirmed case of Coronavirus discovered in Washington State

The first case of an infection with a new coronavirus has been discovered in the United States.

A man from Washington state returned home after a trip to Wuhan, China, on Jan. 15, sought medical attention on Jan. 19 and now is in isolation at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington.

NPR:

Washington State health officials have described the man’s condition as “good” and even some have referred to him as ‘healthy.’

So far, 300 cases have been reported world-wide resulting in six deaths in China. Health professionals world-wide have ramped up precautions to combat spreading the deadly disease.

Three U.S. airports, JFK in New York, SFO in San Francisco and LAX in Los Angeles — have set up “additional security screenings for passengers coming from infected areas.”
