Rand Paul reads the alleged whistleblower’s name on the Senate floor

“I think they made a big mistake not allowing my question. My question did not accuse anybody of being a whistleblower.”

Republican Senator Rand Paul gave the purported name of the anonymous whistleblower at the center of President Donald Trump’s impeachment in a speech in the Senate on Tuesday, after earlier being blocked from doing so during Trump’s trial.

Paul uttered the name in a question that U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts had earlier declined to read as the presiding officer of the trial. The Senate was not holding impeachment proceedings when Paul spoke on Tuesday.

Reuters:

“I’m going to ask that question again this morning because the Constitution does protect debate. I think they made a big mistake not allowing my question. My question did not talk about anybody who is a whistleblower, my question did not accuse anybody of being whistleblower, it did not make a statement believing that someone was a whistleblower. I simply named two people’s names because I think it’s very important to know what happened.”

-Rand Paul

Baby Paul also displayed a poster board with the alleged whistleblower’s name on it.

News Views refuses to publish the alleged whistleblower’s name out of respect for him/her and the law that protect his/her identity.

Who will be Trump' running mate?
