Sherrod Brown: ‘President Trump betrayed Ohio workers’

For tonight’s State of the Union address, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown has invited former United Auto Workers Local 1112 president Dave Green to be his guest. Green has attended the SOTU address before as Youngstown Rep. Tim Ryan’s guest.

Green served as the United Auto Workers Local 1112 President for the now-shuttered GM Plant in Lordstown. Over the last two years, GM laid off roughly 4,500 workers between the three shifts at the plant.

He now lives in Indiana, after being forced to relocate away from Lordstown after GM shuttered the plant

Sentinel-Tribune:

In an interview with WKBN 27, Senator Brown stated that Trump “turned his back on General Motors workers who were forced to take jobs outside the area.”

“They feel betrayed by a president that made all kinds of promises and then didn’t lift a finger to keep Lordstown there, and all the impact that had, not just 4,500 Lordstown workers, but all the companies and restaurants.”
