Melania Trump has become the first Trump to show herself wearing a face mask in the coronavirus pandemic.
Still, her husband says it’s voluntary.
“I just don’t want to wear one myself,” he said. “I just don’t want to do it. Sitting in the Oval Office, behind the great, beautiful Resolute Desk, I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, dictators, kings queens — I just don’t see it for myself.”
Before the pandemic, Melania was busy preparing for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, which was set for Monday. She was still able to reveal the 2020 Commemorative Easter Egg from the Egg Board. Lucky!
She has thanked medical professionals, urged blood donation, suggested email and FaceTime as alternatives for keeping in touch with friends and family, and shared resources from Scholastic for the millions of K-12 students now learning online at home because their schools are closed.
“I encourage parents to let children know this will not last forever,” the first lady said in one video message.
The outbreak of a pandemic came at an inopportune time for BeBest, when she was working hard to help remodel the White House tennis courts last month.
It is indeed tough to be a wartime First Lady.
