Australian partygoers being slapped with more than $26,000 in fines for breaching coronavirus regulations

A children’s birthday party in a wealthy Melbourne suburb has resulted in partygoers being slapped with more than $26,000 in fines for breaching coronavirus regulations.

Neighbours on Church Street at Beaumaris say they were stunned on Sunday when signs and balloons went up for a party.

Dozens of parents and kids then showed up, gathering outside to celebrate an eighth birthday.
