Atlanta Mayor receives racist text demanding she re-opens the city

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on the racist text she received: “The reason I released that message is because I wanted across America to see what racism still looks like in 2020.”

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) said Friday she was “saddened” to have received a racist text message in response to her efforts to combat the coronavirus outbreak in the city.

The mayor has publicly opposed Gov. Brian Kemp‘s (R) decision to reopen businesses in the state like nail salons and barbershops starting Friday. She has urged Atlanta residents to stay home to help stop the spread of the deadly disease.
