Nancy Pelosi Fears for “Morbidly Obese” Trump

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she didn’t think it was a good idea for Trump to take hydroxychloroquine because of his age and his weight group, which she characterized as “morbidly obese.”

Trump is 73, and at his last weigh-in in February 2019, he was 6’3″ with a body mass index of 30.4. The CDC considers a BMI of more than 40 to be morbidly obese.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said it was dangerous for Trump to take the drug, but that Trump characteristically lies and may not be taking it.

He added: “I don’t know whether he is taking it or not. I know him saying he is taking it, whether he is or not, is reckless, reckless, reckless.”

The White House physician said the benefits outweighed the risk.
