Trump Fires U.S. Prosecutor Berman While Trump Says He’s Not Involved

Trump has fired Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman after Berman refused to resign.

Attorney General Bill Barr announced on Friday night that Berman would be stepping down and being replaced, only for Berman to issue a statement that he was informed of his dismissal in a press release, and that he had no intention of resigning.

Bill Barr has sent Berman a letter stating that he instructed Trump to fire him, and that he is out of his position as of today.

“Unfortunately, with your statement of last night, you have chosen public spectacle over public service,” Barr said in the letter, referring to the prosecutor’s refusal to capitulate.

To further add to confusion to the Keystone Kop plan, Trump says in a brief presser before leaving for a bigly rally in Tulsa that he’s not involved and that it’s up to his “very capable” Attorney General Bill Barr.
