A Democratic group named Hawkfish is warning Americans of a scenario called a “red mirage” on election night. They say it is highly likely that it will appear that Trump has won re-election by a landslide until mail-in votes are counted.
Way more Democrats will vote by mail than Republicans, due to fears of the coronavirus, and it will take days if not weeks to tally these. This means Trump, thanks to Republicans doing almost all of their voting in person, could hold big electoral college and popular vote leads on election night.
Hawkfish is funded by Michael Bloomberg, and also does work for the DNC and pro-Biden Super PACs. CEO Josh Mendelsohn is warning of this pre-ordained outcome, and trying to educate the public of a very real possibility that Trump will attempt to declare victory and then de-legitimize a Biden win when all ballots are counted.
