Breonna Taylor’s Cousins Lead Peaceful Rally in Grand Rapids

Tawanna Gordon and Erica Eaves, cousins of Breonna Taylor, led a rally in Breonna Taylor’s native town of Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Wednesday night.

About 200 people gathered and listened to the cousins speak before they marched peacefully a short distance to police headquarters in downtown Grand Rapids.

Police had parked large maintenance trucks and some railing in downtown streets and in front of the police headquarters as a precaution.

Protesters went around the barricades and called for Police Chief Eric Payne to come kneel with them. After about 15 minutes, he did just that.

The protest remained peaceful, with two people detained, one for spray painting a building and the other for disorderly conduct.
