Stella Immanuel, the doctor who made a viral claim that hydroxychloroquine is a “cure” for coronavirus, fired off a tweet this Friday in the wake of President Trump’s announcement that he and his wife tested positive for coronavirus, chastising his handlers for telling him to stop taking the malaria drug.

“Whoever told the president to stop taking HCQ should be punched in the face,” she wrote. “This did not have to happened (sic). I am so upset. This is our president for crying out loud. No one need to get sick or pcr positive.”

Immanuel first made headlines when a video she appeared in was retweeted by Donald Trump Jr. In the video, she regurgitated numerous falsehoods about coronavirus, one of which was the claim that a cure for the virus exists, namely in the form of hydroxychloroquine. President Trump later retweeted the video as well. In the wake of her newfound viral fame, a report from the Daily Beast revealed that she also moonlights as an apocalyptic preacher, who’s claimed that demons cause cysts, infertility, and impotence by sexually assaulting people while they sleep.
