McConnell Denies Health Problems Despite Bruises and Bandages on Hands

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is denying any health concerns despite several photos depicting bruising and bandages on his hands.

Photos of his darkened hand and bandaged thumb went viral on Wednesday and he was asked about it on Thursday by a reporter.

“Do you have some kind of health issue?” asked Politico reporter John Bresnahan. “Everyone been’s talking about your hands.”

“I’ve been worried about your health, Bres. How are you feeling?” replied McConnell, using the reporter’s nickname.

When pressed by the Politico reporter who asked if there was anything we should know, McConnell replied, “Of course not.”

He did not respond to reporters who asked if he was seeing a doctor about his hands, and his aide had no comment.

In most photos taken of the Senator this week, his right hand has been in his pocket.

In 2019 McConnell suffered a shoulder injury from a fall, and in 2003 had triple bypass surgery. He also survived polio as a child.

McConnell has been a proponent of masks and social distancing since the beginning of the pandemic.
