I wanted to share what I’ve been listening to this week since it was released on Monday. The video is so moving, you really don’t need to have been a follower of his dad’s music to appreciate the outpouring of love in this tribute.
Wolfgang Van Halen is the son of Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli, he’s 29 and started touring with his dad’s band as a teenager. He is releasing his first solo project, and he is indeed solo, playing every instrument in the songs as well as singing — and he definitely has the vocal chops in the family. Choosing Mammoth WVH as his band name reflects the original name of his dad’s band.
Grab your kleenex.
The song went directly to #1 on iTunes where it stayed for three days. Today I see it dropped to #2.
I also came across “another banger” with the TwinsthenewTrend, listening to Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A’Changing” with a twist: a follow-up interview with President Obama. Yuhhh. Mmm-hmmm.
I’ve been turning to music more and more as 2020 wears on, and on, and on……. Trying to take time to disconnect from so much ugliness. Music has a way of removing you from the present and taking you to another place.
I’d love to see you share the places you’d like to go, in music.
But this again is Happy Hour in the 5:00 Somewhere Lounge, which means it is your time to hang out and share what you want. Have a drink, disconnect, or re-connect. Cheers!
