Andrew Yang Gauging Run for Mayor of New York City

Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang is talking with elected officials to gauge support in a possible run for mayor of New York City.

“It sounds like Andrew Yang is running for mayor and seems excited about his path to win,” said one person who spoke to Yang, who has decamped to Georgia to volunteer for the U.S. Senate races of Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

Yang is also in talks with a consulting firm that worked on Mike Bloomberg’s 2009 mayoral campaign.

Yang’s team conducted a poll to gauge whether he could be successful running as a third party candidate, but it appears he would join a Democratic field for the June 2021 primary.

A New York Post poll showed the technology enterpreneur was the first choice among participants polled between November 30 and December 6.
