At Least 5 Dead in Fort Worth After Weather-Related Accident

Around 70-100 vehicles were involved in a freeway pile-up near downtown Fort Worth, Texas, at approximately 6:00amCT. At least five people have died, others had been trapped. First responders said at least 30 people were taken to area hospitals where some were critically injured. The incident was weather-related.

An ice storm had been predicted for the area, and a winter weather advisory had been issued for the area until 3:00pm Thursday. Freezing rain and sleet were expected throughout the morning.

Ice storm warnings were in effect from Arkansas to Kentucky, while another winter storm was predicted to bring snow to Mid-Atlantic states, the National Weather Service said.
