Good Luck Kissing the Blarney Stone

Going Green and kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland the Emerald Isle this year, like 2020, is not possible.

Blarney Castle, home of the famous rock that’s been smooched millions of times over, is closed during the pandemic, according to their website.

The legend is that kissing the Blarney Stone gives the kisser the gift of gab, helping people become more eloquent and persuasive. Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, is among the millions of people who have kissed the stone over the centuries.

Visitors used to be held by their ankles and lowered head first to kiss the stone in the wall of Blarney Castle, but today there are rails to hold onto while puckering up to a limestone.

Kissing the stone is not easy (especially when the Castle is closed due to coronavirus), and if the thought of leaning over backwards while lying on your back in an ancient tower gives you vertigo just thinking about it, you can just view the video. And then maybe kiss a Blarney Scone instead.
