In a Merlot drenched audio recording of his new book, John Boehner went off script and told Senator Cruz what many of would like to tell Ted Cruz:
“Freedom means that you can be a genius and invent new products that make you millions of dollars and help millions of people. It means you’re free to work your way to become the first in your family to go to college. It means you’re free to reach as high as you want, no matter where you came from, even if you’re a little kid sweeping a bar out in southwest Ohio. Take it from me: you’ll never know where you end up. That’s freedom. I’ll raise a glass to that any day,” Boehner said.
“PS, Ted Cruz, go fuck yourself.”
The former House Speaker also had this to say about Ted Cruz:
MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan criticized former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) for not going after those the host deemed were GOP “crazies” sooner.
“The reason we are where we are today is because these ‘old-school Republicans’ didn’t stand up to the crazies. They embraced them, however uneasily,” Hasan said on the network’s Friday episode of “All In.”
“Now the crazies are ascendant, and John Boehner wants to be celebrated for calling them crazy,” Hasan said. “Well, too little too late.”
