What Would You Do Wednesday? Mental health care throughout the pandemic

At News Views, we’re always trying something to get y’all out here talking. This week, I’m presenting an issue that’s really not new. Regardless if you have had or didn’t have COVID-19, this virus has affected most of us a bit differently.

We’ve been working from our homes. If we have kids, our kids have been home. The places we used to go to for getting out and enjoying life are either done or limited in what they can do today as opposed to the old days.

All of this has taken its toll on us. Do you feel trapped? And if you do, what have you done to get through all of this? Some people have had to isolate because they have had COVID-19, what did you do to pass the time away, providing that time wasn’t spent in the hospital?

But, the toll it has taken on all of us has been great. I’m not going to ask for details unless you want to talk and share them but, help is there. I talk to sick patients every day—EVERY DAY. I love my job but, I’ve pretty much heard it all and I want you to know help is there. It’s a phone call or a click away.

Suicide Hotline:

I you live in CA and have experienced any type of mental health issues—any and want to talk, go here:

The organization tells every referral that there is a two day turnaround. No, they get back to people, or try to, in less than that time frame.

So, your task, as the intelligent lot you are, is discuss is to discuss the matter; offer support, encourage others, and just be there because this virus has taken its toll on all of us but in very different ways.  Maybe you can also come up with some solutions–offer up some ideas on how we approach, handle, this issue. It’s very important and sometimes, people just need to talk and they need to someone to listen to them. Show empathy; be there for your peer.

Hope you enjoy- Please understand that this is not a free chat thread. Please post to the topic; share your ideas, solutions, etc…
