Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Wednesday that the Justice Department will launch a civil investigation ‘into whether Minneapolis Police Department engages in a pattern of unconstitutional or unlawful policing.’ AG Garland’s announcement comes one day after a jury found former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all three counts in the murder of George Floyd.
