After 3 venues declined to hold Marjorie Taylor Greene’s and Matt Gaetz’ rally, The duo will now hold it outdoors in front of the Riverside City Hall.
“If anything, that’ll probably end up being even more contentious than whatever they planned to hold indoors … we’re sure counter-protesters will show up (as they always do) and confront the far right-wing politicians and their supporters face-to-face … which could get ugly,” TMZ warned. “We’ll be monitoring the scene as it plays out — but something tells us cops aren’t looking forward to the storm that’s coming. Ditto for local residents, who might wanna steer clear.”
It’s sure to be a shit show, no matter what.
Matt Gaetz Hints at Lawsuit
This is the second time the rally with the two controversial Congress members has been canceled. It was originally scheduled for Saturday at the Pacific Hills Banquet & Event Center in Laguna Hills, but canceled last week once it was learned who the speakers were, according to the Orange County Register. The move to Riverside was announced Thursday.
Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson called the rally “divisive” and welcomed the decision from the Raincross Hospitality Corp., which manages the convention center through a city contract.
“Riverside is a diverse and inclusive community, so it is heartening to hear that this event will not move forward,” Mayor Pro Tem Gaby Plascencia said in a statement. “I am disappointed we even got to this point, because these speakers are the antithesis of everything Riverside stands for.”
Taylor Greene wrote on Twitter late Friday night that she and Gaetz “won’t back down” and that their rally “is happening tomorrow night in California,” though she did not specify where it will take place.
Taylor said “Radical communists have spent the last week trying to cancel our America First Rally w/ @mattgaetz. Violent threats from BLM/Antifa were used again today to bully another venue,” she tweeted Saturday.
As of now the event is scheduled at the Anaheim Event Center in Anaheim. However, there is this tweet.
