In late March, the Former Guy sat down for an interview with Washington Post journalists and authors of the new book “I Alone Can Fix It” Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker. The Former Guy described the events of Jan. 6 as largely peaceful and his supporters as friendly, saying the audience he addressed at a rally on the Ellipse before the attack on the U.S. Capitol was a “loving crowd.” Five people died because of the ‘loving crowd’s’ acts of violence and insurrection. At least 138 officers suffered injuries, including burns, concussions and fractures because of this ‘loving crowd.’
But wait! There’s more.
On Wednesday evening, Leonnig and Rucker appeared on CNN’s Anderson Cooper’s and shared more audio of their interview with the Former Guy. TFG has always spounted off debunked conspiracy theories and ‘bald faced’ lies, but in this latest audio clip, TFG really goes off the rails.
“They were ushered in by the police. I mean, in all fairness, the Capitol Police were ushering people in,” Trump said. “The Capitol Police were very friendly, you know they were hugging and kissing. You don’t see that, but there’s plenty of tape on that too.”
Huffington Post:
Cooper called it sickening that Trump would believe these are “loving” people who attacked the U.S. Capitol.
