Free Chat Friday, Week 35

Last year, in September of 2020, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died.

In September of 2021, the Supreme Court allowed the most repressive Anti-Choice law in the nation to stand, seen as a precursor to the Right Wing commitment to overturn Roe V Wade.

In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina roared across the warming Gulf and decimated Louisiana and points South.

In August of 2021 Hurricane Ida roared across a now warmer Gulf and moved again through Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi before turning East to flood New York and New Jersey.

In November of 2000, two candidates, Bush and Gore, fought in the courts for a Florida recount for the office of President.

In September of 2021, Trump fought in the courts demanding vote recounts while continuing to call himself president.

Decade after decade. History repeating, with minor changes here and there; maybe the tools change, the geography, the vocabulary, the uniforms. Maybe the hair styles change, the communication patterns, the weapons, the imaginative ways we create and destroy. But we stay the same, stuck in a rut of procreating, destroying, establishing turf, competing for power, choosing our tribes and fighting to survive, and always sweating through the inner conflict between sacrifice for the loved versus our will to be the last one standing whatever the cost.

2021 feels like that fork in the road– I do wonder which way we, the inhabitants on this planet, will choose to go?

Deep musings aside, this is Friday and we get the chance to talk about it all, the weeks doings, political, personal, philosophical and phunny ( I had to stick with my “P” words….even I don’t know why…. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž)

Welcome to Free Chat Friday — it’s been another crazy week and it’s time to blow off some steam. So what’s happening, News Viewers, in your neck of the woods?
