BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Police say a man from Boynton Beach is facing grand theft charges for breaking into an auto dealership, stealing keys and a pickup truck before crashing into a building.
The owner arrived at work that morning to find a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck missing from the parking lot. The owner also found the gate to the compound wide open and a lock missing, as well as about 60 sets of keys. The owner said the thief also made off with a 45-inch Samsung television, two Dell laptops, and an assortment of tools.
Shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, police spotted a man driving the stolen pickup truck down Seacrest Boulevard. When an officer initiated a traffic stop, police said the driver sped away. Minutes later, officers found the pickup on W. Boynton Beach Boulevard where it crashed into the side of a building.
Officers searched the area and Puglisi was found pretending to grill on the porch of a nearby apartment, and was taken into custody, the report said.
Stolen from within the building were approximately 60 sets of keys belonging to the vehicles for sale on the lot, which will cost an estimated $ 20,000 to replace. Also stolen from within the building was a 45” Samsung television ($ 1,500), and a Dell laptop from a desk ($ 1,000). In the rear of the business under a carport where vehicle repair and maintenance is completed, another Dell laptop was stolen ( $ 1,000) and several tools to include wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers (approximately $ 3,000). Video surveillance from the business captured a thin white male, wearing a dark baseball cap, t-shirt, and shorts, at approximately 0200 hours walking in between cars within the compound before leaving in the stolen GMC truck.
