Protesters Gather at “Justice For J6” Rally

The Justice for J6 rally to support the approximately 610 individuals who have been federally charged for their involvement in the Capitol riot on January 6 is not expected to be a large crowd.

Even so, Capitol Police held a swearing-in ceremony early this morning at 7:15amET for state, local, and federal law enforcement partners ahead of the rally.

Matt Braynard, a former Trump campaign operative, and his organization, Look Ahead America are the brains behind the rally. The organization has demanded that the Justice Department drop charges against what the group calls “nonviolent protesters” facing charges stemming from the Jan. 6 riot. Organizers have secured a permit for 700 attendees, who have been told by Braynard to be respectful and kind to police, and to refrain from bringing signs, flags, and MAGA-wear objecting to the 2020 election.

The rally was scheduled to begin at noon at Union Square, near the Capitol Reflecting Pool.
