The House will vote to censure Arizona Rep Paul Gosar and remove his committee assignments.
Gosar posted an anime video depicting himself killing Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and threatening President Biden.
Speaker Pelosi has said, “We cannot have members joking about murdering each other, as well as threatening the president of the United States,” she added, while the text of the resolution states that “depictions of violence can foment actual violence and jeopardize the safety of elected officials.”
CNN reported that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy explained the video in a caucus meeting and that the “explanation was well received in the conference, according to attendees.”
Two Republicans, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, have indicated they would support the censure.
