Florida man Matt Gaetz on Tuesday told reporters that as Speaker of the Trump Goon Squad — the “Freedom Caucus” — he had spoken directly to Trump about TFG becoming Speaker of the House.
Gaetz said that he and the Goon Squad of Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Paul Gosar would be taking “power” when the GOP won back the House of Representatives, adding the days of Paul Ryan would be gone.
The speaker of the House doesn’t have to be a member of Congress, but every speaker in U.S. history has been. Only one vote is needed for someone to be nominated for the post, the third position in the presidential line of succession. Republicans need to win just five seats in the 2022 midterms to take control of the House. Trump said during the summer speculation over who should become speaker that he has “a good relationship with Kevin [McCarthy] and hopefully we will do everything traditionally.”
Meanwhile a video on social media emerged this week of Texas wingnut Dan Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL and decorated veteran, defending the scorned Adam Kinzinger and fellow Texas congressional candidate Morgan Luttrell — twin brother of Marcus Luttrell of the Mark Wahlberg film “Lone Survivor.” Kinzinger became friends with the twins, and Kevin McCarthy has been friendly with candidate Luttrell.
Luttrell’s campaign received a controversial donation from Adam Kinzinger and the wingnut Trump loyalists went nuts over the association with Kinzinger. Luttrell was forced to send the donation back to Kinzinger.
