Direct TV cancels the Fake News network, OANN

On Friday, the satellite television provider DirectTV confirmed they will not enter into a new contract with The Former Guy’s (TFG) favorite Fake News network, OANN.

“We informed Herring Networks that, following a routine internal review, we do not plan to enter into a new contract when our current agreement expires,” a DirecTV spokesperson said in a statement.

In 2020, YouTube suspended and demonetized OANN’s channel for violating the company’s “COVID-19 misinformation policy, which prohibits content claiming there’s a guaranteed cure,”

In August of 2021, Dominion Voting Systems filed suit against OANN and Newsmax accusing the far right, ‘news’ networks of spreading misinformation about the 2020 election by accusing Dominion of rigging the ballots in President Biden’s favor via their voting machines. These lies have harmed the company, its employees and its customers; workers have been threatened, their offices vandalized, and the company has had to spend upwards of $600,000 on security for employees, the suit alleges.
