The 94th Academy Awards show ended up as a real slap in the face.
Host Chris Rock made some bad jokes, but the one about Will Smith’s wife Jada and her unforced baldness was not well received by Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
The unscripted moment brought the show to awkward heights, and about 40 minutes after the slapping incident Will Smith was on stage accepting the Best Actor award. Denzel Washington offered advice to Smith: “At your highest moment, be careful, that’s when the devil comes for you.”
“LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
