No, MAGAts: Twitter has no plans to reinstate TFG’s account

Although Elon Musk now has a 9% stake in Twitter and a seat on its corporate board of directors, Twitter released a statement to the Daily Mail that the company has no plans to reinstate TFG’s Twitter account. Twitter’s policy decisions are not dictated nor directed by their board members or shareholders.

“Musk has described himself as a ‘free speech absolutist’ and has made clear that he doesn’t think Twitter is living up to free speech principles — an opinion shared by followers of Donald Trump and several right-wing political figures who’ve had their accounts suspended for violating Twitter content rules.”

But…Board members and shareholders do not dictate nor direct Twitter’s policies. Furthermore, Musk is one of twelve Board members.

Below is a snippet from an NBC article/analysis on some of Musk’s past Twitter issues:

Elon Musk’s joining Twitter’s board of directors should sound alarm bells

As we head into another election cycle and are still dealing with Covid, his record of spreading misinformation on the social media platform is worrisome.

In 2018, he was sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission for tweeting that he (Musk) had “funding secured” for Tesla to become a private company. The SEC accused him of misleading the market (a claim Musk denied). As part of his 2019 settlement with the commission, Musk’s tweets about many aspects of his company now have to be vetted by lawyers before he posts them. It’s an agreement that the SEC has accused Musk of violating repeatedly

He has also used social media to spread vaccine and Covid misinformation in the past. Although he now says he’s vaccinated and told Time magazine that “the science is unequivocal,” he said in a September 2020 interview on New York Times journalist Kara Swisher’s “Sway” podcast that he wouldn’t get vaccinated and downplayed the severity of the virus.

As we head into another presidential election and are seeing the spread of another Covid subvariant, it’s more important than ever to ensure that social media doesn’t continue to promote violence or misinformation. It’s astounding that Twitter would call on someone like Musk to help oversee a company that urgently needs to crack down on the very kinds of bad behavior that he himself has been responsible for on its platform.

💩dlehead appears all giddy about Musk’s new gig:

Former Congresscritter and serial Orange Ass Kisser, Devin Nunes, took the opportunity to pimp TFG’s latest failure, Truth Social:

Twitter did announce they are working on an edit feature but Musk has nothing to do with the new project.

Who will be Trump' running mate?
