Good morning, News Viewers. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe; what a wild and tragic Fourth of July weekend we had. So, let’s try to focus on the good things we have in life because if it’s not COVID-19, it’s a mass shooting. Let’s talk about the things in our lives that matter.

Besides my family and friends, which I’m either around physically or on the phone with a lot, my life seems to focus around my pets (2 elderly dogs and 2 young cats) and my jungle. My vegetable garden is doing pretty good right now. We’ve been picking lots of tomatoes, using them in salads, and making either bruschetta (not a shhhhhh sound, please…bru-ske-ta) and caprese.

So far, we’ve only picked a few peppers but that will change today. I have several orange peppers ready to come inside and either meet a sauté pan or some pizza dough; I haven’t decided as of yet. All the Italian varietals are still green and the hot ones (Calabrian) are just popping out; they won’t be ready for another month or so.

This year, my Asian pear tree is loaded. It was last year but…squirrel! I don’t have issues with squirrels right now; it’s a freaking blue jay that has his/her eyes on my pears. My girlfriend and I were sitting on my patio Sunday trying to eat our lunch but we spent more time yelling and clapping our hands at the blue jay. I’m going out at some point this week and buying a super soaker squirt gun for his feathered ass.

So, tell me what’s going on in your world? If you have a garden or plants/herbs, tell us about them. Or, just talk about whatever’s on your mind.

Enjoy the day and be safe!
