Elon Musk’s “Peace Proposal” for Russia and Ukraine Gets Attention

Earlier today Elon Musk tweeted a peace proposal to settle the Russian invasion of Ukraine, suggesting that Ukraine give up Crimea, a region Russia annexed in 2014.

Musk also thought that the UN could broker a referendum on whether to annex four additional regions of Ukraine, and that Russia should leave Ukraine “if that is the will of the people.” He also suggested Ukraine remain neutral in global affairs instead of enjoying a diplomatic relationship with the West.

Ukrainian diplomat Andrij Melnyk responded quickly.

The proposal also caught the eye of President Zelensky.

A deluge of Twitter opinions also flooded social media.

As the votes began to roll in from the original tweet, the no votes were winning with about 60% of the votes. Musk suggested that bots were voting.
