January 6 Committee Officially Sends Subpoena to Trump

The January 6 Committee announced on Friday that the former guy has officially been subpoenaed to sit for a deposition under oath, and they want documents, too.

The panel is ordering Trump turn over documents by November 4 and “one or more days of deposition testimony beginning on or about November 14.”

Issuing the subpoena is a way for the committee to make clear they want information directly from Trump, as they have presented information in previous hearings showing they believe Trump “personally orchestrated and oversaw” the plan to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

The subpoena also lists the specific documents they are requesting.

Trump responded blathered on Truth Social after the committee voted in favor of a subpoena but did not say whether he would comply, beginning with the usual mantra: “THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020 WAS RIGGED AND STOLEN!”
