DATELINE: DARKE COUNTY — A house fire posed dangerous conditions for first responders after ammunition began triggering near grenades during the burn Tuesday afternoon.
Crews reported heavy smoke and fire emanating from the building, initial traffic on emergency scanners said. The house was fully involved, causing crews to take defensive action when attempting to manage the fire.
As the flames expanded, live ammunition began to trigger and fire off in the rear of the house, crews stated on emergency scanners. Later, crews were notified that grenades were inside the burning house, News Center 7 crews confirmed.
