Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., vocal anti-vaxxer, has filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run as a presidential candidate in the Democratic primary.
A formal campaign launch is in the works for April 19 in Boston.
According to Robert Costa of CBS News, Steve Bannon had been encouraging this for months, using RFK Jr. as an agent of chaos.
RFK Jr.’s campaign is not considered much of a challenge to Joe Biden.
In March, Kennedy posted to Twitter the idea of running.
To the dismay of his extended family, Kennedy has stoked anti-vaccine sentiment, including conspiracy theories that autism was linked to vaccines, and touting that polio vaccines were flawed.
In November 2021, RFK Jr. made an incendiary claim about Covid vaccines on Tucker Carlson’s entertainment show.
“There have been 17,000 deaths reported to VAERS from the Covid vaccines,” Kennedy. “And that’s more – in the last eight months – than all vaccines, the billions and billions of vaccines combined over the past 30 years. This vaccine is–appears to be killing more people than all vaccines combined.”
