GOP Oversight Committee Drops Plan to Hold Christopher Wray in Contempt

James Comer, chairman of the Oversight Committee, says he is no longer planning to pursue holding Christopher Wray in contempt over a Rudy Giuliani-driven document alleging Joe Biden crimes.

The document known as an FD-1023 contains allegations that Joe Biden as Vice President had agreed to payment for policy outcomes in Ukraine.

Ranking member Jamie Raskin described the document as a debunked conspiracy theory peddled by Rudy Giuliani, as covered by News Views earlier this week.

Chairman Comer’s subpoena is about recycling stale and debunked Burisma conspiracy theories long peddled by Rudy Giuliani and a Russian agent, sanctioned by former President Trump’s own Treasury Department, as part of the effort to smear President Biden and help Mr. Trump’s reelection campaign.

The Oversight Committee was demanding the document be turned over by a subpoena, but the FBI refused to physically hand over the form to protect its confidential sources. Comer and Raskin reviewed the document on Monday, and on Wednesday Comer stated that the FBI “caved” and allowed all panel members to see the document.

Or is there something more going on in the GOP Clown House?
