Rapper Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) on Saturday had his account on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) reinstated after several months suspension.
In the fall of 2022, Ye posted an image of a swastika symbol seemingly inside a Star of David, which went against the platform’s rules prohibiting the incitement of violence. His repeated comments leading up to the suspension prompted watchdog group StopAntisemitism.org to name him “Antisemite of the Year.”
Ye’s outrageous behavior included wearing a White Lives Matter t-shirt, repeating anti-semitic tropes online, and tweeting he wanted “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”
The account has been given a gold check mark — supposedly reserved for “official business accounts,” yet Ye won’t be able to monetize his account and advertisements won’t appear next to his posts.
