What better way to bond with your father or your son than to monitor each other’s porn intake? Apparently, that’s how it’s done in the Fundie Freakshow of a household known as the Johnson home.
An X account, @receiptmaven, recently discovered a video clip of Mike Johnson promoting an app called “Covenant Eyes” which tracks all activity on cell phones and other devices and sends a weekly report to a so-called accountability partner. Some have labeled this app a huge red flag for right-to-privacy, even way more so than rummaging through your daughter’s purse looking for bar receipts.
The app allows parents to track online activities of their kids, this type of technology allows complete surveillance over an individual’s electronic devices and online activity.
Johnson said he was made aware of the app at a Promise Keepers event, an organization for Evangelical Christian men. The Promise Keepers were promoting the app as a tool for men to keep each other in check in their quest to avoid use of pornography.
Johnson then said he brought the app to his family, and he and his 17-year-old son are each other’s “allies”; the designated recipients of each other’s electronic device histories.
