Steve Bannon is asking his friends on the Supreme Court to *do something* keep him out of prison, where he is scheduled to report by July 1 after his contempt of Congress conviction two years ago.
Three-shirts Steve filed an emergency application for continued release with the extreme court on Friday morning, after a federal appeals court denied his request for release pending appeal of his convictions.
On Thursday the three-judge panel of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled 2-1 that Bannon’s argument did not present a “substantial question” of law that could reverse his conviction.
Judges Patricia Millett, an Obama appointee, and Bradley Garcia, a Biden appointee, ruled that Bannon had “no basis” to believe that the high court would take up his case given longstanding precedents that the justices have relied on in similar cases.
However, Judge Justin Walker, a Trump appointee, broke from his colleagues, suggesting that Bannon’s argument might draw interest from the justices.
According to a two-page dissent from the Trump-tee Walker, “Bannon should not go to prison before the Supreme Court considers his forthcoming petition.”
