Judge Merchan Delays Trump Sentencing Until November 26

New York Justice Juan Merchan has delayed sentencing Trump in the criminal case in which he was found guilty of 34 felony counts until after the election.

Trump had been scheduled for sentencing on September 18, but Judge Merchan delayed, for a second time, pushing the sentencing to November 26.

  • Trump was convicted in May by a unanimous jury on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Prosecutors said Trump signed off on a scheme to hide reimbursements to a lawyer who wired a $130,000 “hush money” payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 presidential election.
