Kansas City Chiefs Owners Donating to Group Supporting Missouri’s Abortion Ban

The family that owns the Kansas City Chiefs have donated $300,000 to a political action committee that supports a group running ads that urge voters to reject a ballot measure that would overturn Missouri’s near total ban on abortion.

Unity Hunt, a company that oversees the assets of the Lamar Hunt family, made the donation to Leadership for America last month. Lamar Hunt, Jr., the son of the Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt, has been outspoken about his opposition to abortion.

The ads will run across the Missouri market focusing on right-wing radio, encouraging Missourians to vote against Amendment 3.

The ads call the amendment “cleverly-worded to convince you that it only allows abortions until fetal viability,” according to the Missouri Independent, which first reported the donation and ad buy. “But it has loopholes that allow for abortions through all nine months of pregnancy,” the ads said. “Abortion proponents used to say ‘safe, legal and rare.’ But now they want abortion as common as the morning after pill.”

Missouri’s abortion ban went into effect minutes after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

Meanwhile, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker endorsed Trump as pro-life candidate on Thursday at a Josh Hawley event.

Earlier this year the 29-year-old kicker delivered the commencement speech at Benedictine College, and said some women would become leaders, but felt most would be proudest becoming wives and mothers.
