Breaking News:

Yahya Sinwar, The Leader Of Hamas, Has Been Killed

Sinwar’s death will likely open up pathways to peace that were not present before.

This morning, Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, was eliminated by Israeli Defense Forces. Sinwar was dubbed the mastermind behind the October 7th terrorist attacks that led to the death of more than 1,200 innocent Israeli civilians. According to initial reports, Sinwar was killed as part a routine military operation in the Gaza Strip where Israeli infantry troops encountered militants near a building in Gaza, engaging them in the process.

Following the battle, troops noticed that one of the men killed resembled Sinwar and quickly notified senior commanders, at which point the DNA of Sinwar was taken and confirmed.

Jimmy Carter, 100, Fulfills Goal Of Voting For Kamala Harris

Former President Jimmy Carter, who just turned 100, has fulfilled his end-of-life goal of voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, his son told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday.

“I think he feels good,” Chip Carter told the outlet, noting that his wife dropped off the ballot on his father’s behalf at the Sumter County Courthouse near his hometown of Plains, Georgia.

SCOTUS:

Supreme Court allows EPA emissions rule to stand while litigation continues

The Supreme Court on Wednesday left in place a rule issued by the Environmental Protection Agency in May to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by power plants. In a brief order, the justices turned down a request from states, energy companies, and other industry groups to put the rule on hold while their challenge in a federal appeals court moves forward.

Defending the rule, the EPA says that it would lead to significant reductions in carbon pollution over the next two decades – “equivalent to preventing the annual emissions of 328 million gasoline cars.” And that in turn, the EPA argues, could provide nearly $400 billion in benefits to the climate and public health.

Justice Clarence Thomas would have temporarily blocked the EPA from enforcing the rule.

Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch expressed sympathy for the challengers’ arguments, but they noted that because the litigation is moving quickly in the lower court, they are unlikely to be affected by the rule for now.

Justice Samuel Alito did not participate in the case, presumably (although he did not say so explicitly) because he owns stock in one of the companies involved in the challenge.

The Felon Guy:

I want to apologize to America. I helped create a monster.

For nearly 25 years, I led marketing at NBC and NBCUniversal. I led the team that marketed “The Apprentice,” the reality show that made Donald Trump a household name outside of New York City, where he was better known for overextending his empire and appearing in celebrity gossip columns.

To sell the show, we created the narrative that Trump was a super-successful businessman who lived like royalty. That was the conceit of the show. At the very least, it was a substantial exaggeration; at worst, it created a false narrative by making him seem more successful than he was.

In fact, Trump declared business bankruptcy four times before the show went into production, and at least twice more during his 14 seasons hosting. The imposing board room where he famously fired contestants was a set, because his real boardroom was too old and shabby for TV.

Trump may have been the perfect choice to be the boss of this show, because more successful CEOs were too busy to get involved in reality TV and didn’t want to hire random game show winners onto their executive teams. Trump had no such concerns. He had plenty of time for filming, he loved the attention and it painted a positive picture of him that wasn’t true.
