Judge agrees to dismiss Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference case
President-elect Trump faced charges over his handling of classified documents and his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss, which culminated in the U.S. Capitol attack.
Special counsel Jack Smith on Monday filed motions to drop all federal charges against President-elect Donald Trump regarding his mishandling of classified documents and his effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the lead-up to the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S Capitol.
Hours later, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan granted Smith’s motion to dismiss the Jan. 6-related indictment, formally bringing to an end the case that alleged Trump unlawfully conspired to overturn his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden.
Top federal prosecutor in New York announces resignation
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams, who prosecuted Sean Combs and Sen. Robert Menendez, announced he will step down next month.
The federal prosecutor who has overseen the convictions of Sen. Robert Menendez, Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell and disgraced cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried said Monday that he will step down as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York next month.
“It has been an honor to serve the American people,” Damian Williams, who has also been overseeing the prosecutions of New York City Mayor Eric Adams and rap artist Sean “Diddy” Combs, said in a statement announcing his intention to resign effective at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Gibson has confirmed to Guitar World that it has issued a cease and desist order to Trump Guitars owner 16 Creative over the use of its single-cut electric guitar model, “as the design infringes upon Gibson’s exclusive trademarks, particularly the iconic Les Paul body shape.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says state will provide rebates if Trump removes tax credit for electric vehicles
Newsom said Monday the state would be “doubling down on our commitment to clean air and green jobs in California,” to maintain the momentum of EV sales.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state will provide rebates to residents if President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration does away with a federal tax credit for electric vehicles.
In a news release issued Monday, Newsom said he would restart the state’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, which provided financial incentives on more than 590,000 vehicles before it was phased out late 2023.
