President-elect Elon Musk endorsed Germany’s far-right extremist party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), in a post to X on Friday morning.
The AfD is a group with ties to neo-Nazis whose youth wing has been classified as “confirmed extremist” by German domestic intelligence. Germany’s mainstream, more centrist parties have vowed to shun support from the AfD at the national level.
Musk had already voiced support for the AfD last year, when he attacked the German government’s handling of illegal migration.
Last month, Musk called for replacing Italian judges who had questioned the legality of government measures to prevent irregular immigration.
This week, Nigel Farage, leader of Britain’s right-wing Reform UK party and Trump fan boi, posted a photo of himself at Mar-a-Lago with Musk, saying he was in talks with the billionaire for financial support.
Germany will have an early election on Feb. 23 after Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s three-party coalition collapsed in November.
