Daniel Ball, Florida MAGAt “hostage,” whose felony assault charges from the violent January 6 Capitol insurrection were dismissed by Felon Trump on Monday, was arrested again on Wednesday morning by DOJ on pending federal gun charges.

Ball was being held in pretrial detention in Washington, D.C., because of what a magistrate judge described as “some of the most violent and serious offenses of any of the charges being brought against participants in the January 6 events.”
Ball was charged with hurling an “explosive device” into the packed Lower West Terrace tunnel of the Capitol, the scene of some of the most egregious violence against police that day. This is where former Capitol Police Officer Michael Fanone was attacked.
“The explosion allegedly disoriented officers and caused hearing loss—which for some of the officers lasted months,” Magistrate Judge Robin Meriweather noted. “Defendant also allegedly threw a large piece of wood into the line of officers protecting the Capitol.”
But Ball had pending charges as a felon in possession of a firearm, unrelated to his January 6 case.
According to the felony firearm charges, Ball had previously been convicted of domestic violence battery by strangulation in June 2017, resisting law enforcement with violence and battery of a law enforcement officer in October 2021.
The arrest stands as the first federal criminal case in Washington since Trump’s inauguration.
