CBS Appears to be Readying to Kiss the Ring in Lawsuit Settlement

Before re-election, tRump filed a lawsuit against CBS over 60 Minutes‘ interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, with allegations that the network had edited an answer on Benjamin Netanyahu to “mask her incompetence” and “interfere in an election” in an act of partisan bias.

On Wednesday, the Federal Communications Commission, now chaired by Brendan Carr, publicly released the full interview and transcripts from which the alleged editing occurred.

Harris gave a lengthy answer as seen in the released video, approaching a delicate and complicated issue warily, seeking to avoid any big headlines. CBS used a 7-second portion of the answer.

You can watch the unedited version here, which is lengthy, but the response in question is at approximately 3:30.

Now Paramount, CBS’ parent company, appears to be inching toward capitulation. The controlling owner wants to drag CBS out of the headlines and wrap up a merger with Skydance Media, which Carr and the FCC are currently weighing in on.

Several people “with knowledge” say Paramount wants to settle, even though the lawsuit is without merit, and 60 Minutes Executive Producer Bill Owens has insisted to the show’s staff he won’t make an apology. And president and chief executive of the news division, Wendy McMahon, has said she opposes a settlement.

60 Minutes argues it did nothing wrong, as it’s common practice for news organizations to include excerpts of full answers. An example (while not necessarily from a news source) is below:
